It is an association of private waste management companies handling waste of
various categories for Metropolitan/Municipal and District Assemblies
(MMDAs), in a public private-partnership (PPP) agreement.

Achievements of ESPA
- The execution of franchise agreements/ contracts with the MMDAs, which has resulted in the injection of private capital into the waste management industry.
- Improved procurement processes through the implementation of the Public Procurement Act, (Act 663) which has resulted in competition in the delivery of service among providers.
- Investment by the private sector into mordern highly efficient appropriate equipment such as refuse compactors, Roll-on/off skip loading trucks, amongs others.
- Increased fees fixed for waste service delivery by the varoius MMDAs for the private waste management industry.
