The Environmental Service Providers Association held its 2nd Annual General Meeting with the theme “Sustainable Capitalisation as a driving tool to improve sanitation in the country” on Wednesday 18th April 2018 @10am at the Holiday Inn Hotel. Solidarity messages were received from the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), the Coalition of NGOs in Water and Sanitation (CONIWAS), Tersus-GH and the Plastic Waste Management Programme, Ghana.
In attendance were the Honorable Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Kofi Adda, the President of ESPA – Dr. Siaw Agyepong, and National Executive Council Members of the Association. In his speech, the Minister commended ESPA for leading, directing, supporting and enhancing the capacities of its members and leveraging on their collective strengths to influence government policy on environmental issues and waste management, particularly solid and liquid waste. He also expressed government’s commitment to support the private sector in the delivery of waste management services.
The President of the Association, Dr. Siaw Agyepong stated that members of the Association are capable of solving the menace of waste management and government must create the enabling environment for optimum performance. He called on government to pay all arrears to members, support members with logistics for operation and provide dump sites for final disposal of waste. In his concluding statement, Dr. Agyepong admonished members to remain united and even the more in the fight against filth in our dear nation.
