ESPA, others clean up Madina Market

The Environmental Service Providers Association (ESPA) in collaboration with the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), the  La-Nkwantanang Madina Assembly and the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources organized a clean-up exercise at Madina Market on 14th December 2019.

The clean-up exercise which was under the theme: A Clean Community, a Shared responsibility aimed at creating awareness and complementing ongoing efforts to improve sanitation and hygiene conditions in the country.  Specifically, the cleanup exercise served as a platform to:

  1. Educate the public on good sanitary practices to improve hygiene and reduce sanitation-related diseases
  2. Encourage proper waste storage to avoid contamination and;
  3. Inform the public about the approved waste management service providers (ESPA ) in the assembly they could subscribe to.

Members present at the clean-up includes the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of La Nkwantanag Madina Assembly, the chair of NDPC, Professor Addai, staff of ESPA Secretariat, NDPC, La-Nkwantanag Municipal Assembly, the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources. Also present were some members of ESPA notably Alliance Waste, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, JSO, Jekora Ventures and Informal sector. The exercise received high attendance from the entire market traders at the Madina market.

ESPA supported the clean-up exercise with the needed logistics with assistance from Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Alliance Waste, JSO, Jekora Ventures and the Informal sector.
