Members of ESPA on 28th September 2020 supported Zoomlion Ghana limited to commission 95M Composting and Recycling plant at Adagya in the Bosomtwe district in the Ashanti region. The 95M project has the capacity of receiving 2400 tonnes of solid waste daily which is above the daily generation of 1200 tonnes of waste within the Kumasi metropolis .
The President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo in his address said the project was the largest in Africa and Ghana, H.E the President commended Zoomlion for investing in waste management and also creating jobs.
The facility is expected to create 800 direct jobs and 1500 indirect jobs. He reiterated government’s commitment to public private partnership in waste management. He also urged all Metropolitan and Municipal Assemblies (MMDA’s) to collaborate with the company in its operators, He tasked the Ministry of Sanitation to ensure the completion of such project in all 16 regions. Dr Siaw Agyepong- President of the ESPA and Executive Chairman of Jospong group of companies expressed gratitude to both past and present Ghanaian government for their support over the years.
He thanked the Asentehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for releasing the 150 acre of land for the project. Lastly he also expressed profound gratitude to members of ESPA for their continuous support and contribution to the waste management. Members of ESPA were elated about the project as this facility will reduce the daily challenge of waste contractors queuing for long hours at dumpsites and landfill.
Present at the ceremony included the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei tutu II , some government officials chiefs and foreign dignitaries. ESPA members present included tidy up waste, Asadu Waste, Yafuru Waste, Ataliz Waste and Executives of liquid waste Association and informal waste collectors.
