ESPA participate in the Mole @30 Conference

The Mole conference stands as one of the longest running and biggest multi-stakeholder annual platforms in the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) sector in Ghana.

This year’s conference, under the theme,  “30 years of Multi-Stakeholder WASH Dialogue: Reflections and Prospects” was held at Volta Serene Hotel, Volta region between 4th November and 8th November, 2019. The conference brought together about 150 participants from civil society and non-governmental organisations, agencies in the WASH sector and members of the media engaged to learn, and share information on specific themes in the quest to discuss trends and take stock and assessment that affects the sector. Members of the Parliamentary select committee on Sanitation and Water Resources attended this year’s conference.

Key outcomes from the conference include:

  • the Vice President, Dr Bawumia underscored the government readiness to establish a National Sanitation Authority with a dedicated fund as a regulatory step in improving the environmental conditions across the country.
  • Likewise, ESPA and CONIWAS jointly released a press statement to form a joint coalition to promote sanitation advocacy in the country. Both parties also demanded state and non-state actors to prioritize sanitation service delivery.
  • A youth professional network in Water, Sanitation and Hygiene was also launched
